An open letter to financial advisers

The next chapter of advicestarts with the client.

In 2025, we built Warren to fill the gap between simple budgeting apps and professional financial advice. We wanted people to be able to talk through their finances, see how the pieces fit together and work out what their money could make possible.

Building it has made us more convinced of the value of advisers. Understanding your money can reveal just how much you need help with. There’s a big difference between exploring whether you could retire earlier and having someone help you make it happen. Judgement, execution and accountability matter.

So why can getting advice still feel like such hard work?

Cost is part of it. But would ten times more people have an adviser if advice were ten times cheaper? We don’t think price alone gets us there. You still have to find someone you trust, gather the paperwork and get through onboarding. Once you’re in, the experience can amount to a portal, some emails and a wait for the next review.

There are good reasons why changing this is difficult. We’re learning that ourselves. But making the paperwork faster only gets us so far if the client’s experience stays the same.

What if someone could start with the question that brought them to your website? “Can I afford to work less?” They talk to your firm’s AI, build a picture of their finances and explore the numbers. Before you’ve met, they’ve already received something useful from you. And they have a much clearer reason to book a conversation.

That’s why we’re bringing Warren to advice firms. Under your brand, it gives prospects and clients somewhere to understand their finances and explore questions, including the ones that come up between meetings. AI does that work directly with them; your team provides the advice.

Then there’s the meeting itself. We think a cashflow model can be the moment a client finally sees what you see. So we built Horizon to make models easier to create, ideas easier to test, and the value of your proposed planning easier to show.

We’d love people to talk about their financial planning experience the way they talk about Monzo or their favourite app: something useful that they actually enjoy using. That’s what we’re working towards, with advisers who want the same for their clients.

If that sounds like you, let’s meet. I’d like to hear what you’d change first.
